Hunting Time
The calendar is about to turn and about the time Labor day rolls around it means it is hunting time. Fall in the south means football, fishing, and time in the field. It all starts off with the traditional labor day Dove hunts.
The dove hunts usually are a family affair and often times they include a pig picking. What better way to learn the ways of hunting than with your father or grandfather. There are many skills that one can use they perfect when hunting.
These skills can be practised and perfected in a way that brings meat to the table if successful. This harkens back to the old skills that have been forgotten. It is important to pick up these skills as old Hank wrote a “country boy will survive”.
If you have not been hunting or ethically opposed to it then feel free to take a camera and stalk your prey with a camera. You will still have to learn valuable skills. I prefer to reach out and touch one personally.
I always enjoy when it is hunting time and look forward to spending time in God’s creation. I have always found that I will learn something during hunting time!
