Eisenhower Soldier and President
A one volume issue on Eisenhower Soldier and President by Stephen E. Ambrose is another wonderfully written biography by one of the premier historians of the 20th century. It delivers the details of one of the best Presidents we had in the 20th century and one that many leaders should model.
Even when he felt deeply convicted President Eisenhower always sought the middle ground. This from the man that led the greatest amphibious assault in the history of the world as the troops went ashore at Normandy.
The success at Normandy probably saved the Western World as if that was not successful the Allied powers may never have one the War. There is little question that Eisenhower was well regarded as a solider and leader of men. Dr. Ambrose does an excellent job of reminding us that Eisenhower Soldier and President is also about being a politician.
There are many historians that have labelled Eisenhower as a do nothing President. He was much more than that and I believe that the author does a great job of explaining the importance and balance that Ike brought to the country.
The author has a beautiful way with words and as always weaves the words together to make it an enjoyable read no matter what your level of knowledge on the subject matter. I would highly recommend this book as you are guaranteed to learn a lot from this book.
