Low Tech Solutions
Another fantastic article from Patrice Lewis about low tech solutions that piques my interest as I have been working on something similar. There are many reasons that people resort to low tech solutions. Just like Patrice one of the reasons that we do it is financial. It may be nice to have all the bells and whistles but then they break.
One thing that I have been thinking about as I hear my broken stove beep for no reason is why it needs to be so complex. I have already replaced the main board in this stove as it was 1/2 the cost of a replacement. I could have saved my money as the same problem reoccurred after six months. Why does a stove even need an electronics board? There were low tech solutions long before electricity. One thing we are planning on is to replace it with a gas stove that does not need electricity.
If the stove does come with a mechanical clock it will just further reinforce the education of telling time for the children. You would think it was like pulling teeth to get some people to accurately tell you the time with the clock has two hands instead of a digital display. I sometimes wonder if people could get home if there GPS went out.
How many people know how too read a map and can plan a route? That truly is a lost art and we often just go the way the interstate drifts and we miss so much in life. We need more low tech solutions as we just might enjoy the time we spend on earth. What low tech solutions are in your plans?
