New Year 2017
The calendar has turned and the New Year Eve parties are over. It is time for New Year 2017! Whether you were ready or not it is here. Good or bad 2016 is behind us.
I have mentioned the history of Auld Lang Syne before and you can bet it will be played in my house today. We will be eating black eyed peas, collards, and cornbread today. It is tradition to have those on this day for luck, money, and gold. Also the first day will be profitable today so perhaps the rest of the year will match as well.
I hope you enjoy the master James Taylor and his rendition of Auld Lang Syne. It is a great way to start the New Year!
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne! For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syneAnd surely ye’ll be your pint stowp!
And surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syneFor auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syneWe twa hae run about the braes,
An pou’d the gowans fine
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fitt,
Sin’ auld lang syneFor auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syneWe twa hae paidl’d in the burn,
Frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d,
Sin auld lang syneFor auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syneAnd there’s a hand, my trusty fiere!
And gie’s a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll take a right gude-willie waught,
For auld lang syneFor auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne
