Auld Lang Syne Meaning

Join in as we see the Auld Lang Syne meaning and history. Happy New Year! May 2012 be the best year yet. Make sure you eat your black eyed peas and Collard Greens. Also some say if the first day is profitable than the year will be profitable. Gotta work on my definition of profitable.

Now when we are all gathered around the pickle waiting on it to drop we will know that we are singing a poem from 1788. Many artists have covered it, but I would have to give a nod to Mr. James Taylor as he does a phenomenal job with his version.

For auld lang syne, my dear,

For auld lang syne,

We’ll take a cup of kindness yet

for auld lang syne,

As we are singing this now on we shall remember that auld lang syne is loosely translated to for old time’s sake. Once you plug that in you can see that no matter what is happening smile and put a good face on it for what you have shared in the past.

Perhaps there is a greater lesson here for the New Year. We should be nicer to people and treat them with the respect needed in this coming year. It will not kill us and only make us stronger.
