An update on Prepper Lighting

Prepper Lighting

Time for an update on prepper lighting and how it has been performing! As with any of the preps it is best to have some experience with how it operates and how long it will last to ensure the function when the need arises.

The first thing I want to talk about is the performance of my Coleman Cree LED Headlamp that I talked about before. It has only been a month, but it is now the first flashlight I reach for when I need a light. The headlamp makes it so convenient and this thing really throws out some light.

Cree X-Lamp XR-C LED headlampI have not had to replace the batteries yet and it is used almost nightly for at least 10 minutes. You do have to be careful as the light projects where you turn your head. Given the need to light up an area it does a great job and will light up whatever you need to look at.

The next light goes from a targeted beam to more of a general light. . I purchased this lamp as a an out of stock replacement for one of their bigger lanterns. It has been a very peaceful addition to the prepper lighting. There is a primal peace that one enjoys from a warm flickering flame.

Kirkman Little Giant #350 showing LightThe wick is incredibly easy to keep trimmed. It is a solid build with great quality glass. I did have one potential issue when I thought the tank was leaking. It was totally my fault and because I overfilled the tank and got the fuel in the wrong chamber. It is a good thing that it sips fuel.

There are many things that you need to consider with prepper lighting. The options range from the versatile open flame all the way to the modern LED light. The best way forward with your prepper lighting is a combination of them all.
