Pine Needle Tea
Since we talked about different drinks last week I have been drinking Pine Needle Tea. It feels natural for me to be surrounded by pine trees. Until last week I have not been looking at one as a source of tea.
After a week of Pine Needle tea I can see what I have been missing. We are still trying out different variations but for a general cup of tea it is fairly simple.
Pick a handful of pine needles and make sure any brown parts are off. Then chop them up and put them in a cup. Pour some boiling water over the needles and let it steep for 15 minutes.
Pull the pine needles out of the cup and then you can drink it that way or add sugar and honey to it of you would like.
For me it is a pretty good taste. I am amazed at the reported health benefits. It is chock full of Vitamin C hence the low steep time. I plan on making this a regular daily drink for a few weeks to see if I can tell any health benefits. It certainly will remain in the quiver as a nice drink no matter what is going on.
