Why We Prepare

Today after the election cycle is finally over I felt is was a good time to talk about why we prepare. There are many reasons that it is wise too but very few actually do it. It is not very hard to prepare, but oftentimes people want to take the easy way out.

The primary reason that we prepare is biblical. If you do not recall the story that Jesus told about the 10 bridesmaids then I would encourage you to reread it. We must be ready at any time for anything. The Bible tells us to take  responsibility and be prepared for we do not know the time or date when he will return.

While waiting for the return of Christ Jesus we know there will be many hardships and persecution of Christians throughout the land. We understand that as part of the great commission we must go forth and teach the people. We want to make sure that we take the talents God has given us and put them to good use.

While we are trying to put our talents to good use we should guard against natural disasters. These are all things that we know are going to happen and is another main reason why we prepare. The last thing we want to depend on is someone else to cloth and feed us. When the chips are down and a storm may have taken everything you have that is when you gain satisfaction in being prepared. So if the power goes out it is not a big deal. Humans have lived without it for so long that we should be able to last longer than 2 weeks without it now.

If you think that 2 weeks is along time then you may be in for a rude awakening for the political and financial hardships that are coming. This is another main reason why we prepare. The reality is that we have been overspending for way too many years and the bell is sounding. We can not fix it by ignoring it like the two major political parties have been doing for the last 24 years. There is a time that is soon coming where the debt will force changes. We can continue to ignore it like the folks in Greece, but the bankers will get paid as they always do.

No matter what party is in charge it seems the bankers have control. This is not the country our Founders intended and they realized that if the nation’s finances ever were controlled then liberty would be dead. That is one reason why we prepare. The current political and financial landscape has been unsustainable and the chickens are coming home to roost.

While the chickens are gathering at dusk to go into the coop and roost for the evening these are three of the reasons why we prepare. There are many ancillary reasons to do it, but I guess I personally fall back on my Boy Scout training and try to Be prepared. How about you? What do you think the reason to be prepared for is?
