Thee Ulitmate Guide to a Christ Centered Christmas

Christ Centered Christmas

Today we are reviewing a Christ Centered Christmas by Hal and Melanie Young.

A picture of the goods at a christ Centered ChristmasThe first opportunity to learn from Hal and Melanie was at a home school conference. The material they presented was solid and very informative. It gave my wife and I hope that we could succeed. They have gone on to writing books and taping their seminars in an effort to spread their message to a wider  audience.

They have written an excellent book on Raising Real Men that coupled with Rite of Passage that I reviewed on December 3 should give a parents with boys a solid foundation. To say that I was excited to see what they had done with this newest book goes without saying.

When I got the book from Melanie I was immediately impressed. This is like a combination of a “Dummies for Christmas” and “How to” from right after Thanksgiving until January 6th.

They give the reader solid background on the traditions around Christmas but in a very efficient manner. They also do an excellent job of explaining how they have incorporated their own traditions into how they celebrate Christmas. I now have a clearer understanding of the significance of January 6th.

I can not wait until we get to experiment with many of the recipes that are published. My mouth was drooling while reading. It is a good thing that the “smell a vision” is not working as the pictures and description with the smell would have driven me over the edge.

The best part of the book for me was the tradition of going carolling. They painted it in a new light that I had never associated with the endeavour. I now look forward to launching this as a tradition in my own small group as an outreach. They have included several traditional hymns to sing with some pointers.

I certainly believe this book will help every family craft their own traditions to celebrate Christmas the right way. God sent his one and only Son here for us. Imagine knowing ahead of time the pain and suffering Jesus would endure and sending him anyway. We are blessed and the ultimate price was paid for our eternal life under his plan.
