Old North State Christmas
The weather outside is looking more like a California holiday, however we are getting ready to celebrate an Old North State Christmas. This year the children will be able to play with any new toys in shorts it appears. Anyone that has lived here can tell you that some years it may be warm and some years it will be cold. Occasionally we even have a white Christmas.
No matter where you spend Christmas it is a time for family and reflection. Hopefully you remember the real reason for the celebration. We have always tried to make sure that we keep Jesus front and center. How humbling is it to remember that there was no room in the inn.
We are blessed and an Old North State Christmas is memorable and we are not having to hang out in the stable. I remember spending Christmas on Ocracoke Island as a child and that was certainly different. There are many traditions and we should all make it unique.
No matter what you do during the Holiday season there is plenty to do here in North Carolina. The month starts with the Holiday Flotilla in New Bern and various events can be enjoyed by all. We tend to end the year with the Pickle Drop in Mt. Olive or the Acorn drop in Raleigh.
No matter where you spend you Holidays make sure that you make it the best. We look forward to an Old North State Christmas every year and treasure it because you never know when it may be someones last. From my family to yours Merry Christmas and may you all be blessed.
