Hark! the Herald Angels Sing
Hark! The herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!”
Joyful, all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th’angelic host proclaim,
“Christ is born in Bethlehem!”
Hark! the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King!”
This hymn was written by Charles Wesley who was born 28 Dec 1707 in Epworth, Lincolnshire, England. He died 29 Mar 1788 in London, England. “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing” is one of more than 6,500 hymns that he wrote.
This is one of my favorite hymns. I always picture little Janie practicing on her piano in “It’s a Wonderful Life”. What a beautiful song to remember the Prince of Peace during the Christmas season.
