In case you have been living under a rock they have made it easy as there is no requirement for Morse code now. I would encourage anyone to look into getting their technician license. I have been using the Study Guide by Dan Romanchik (kb6nu) to get more familiar with the terms and nuances of Ham Radio. This will not teach you everything you need to know about radio and electronics, but it will help you pass the Technician test. This is 49 pages of material that will help you!

I also have been taking the practice tests at qrz.com and eham.net. These are very helpful resources to prepare you for the test.You can tell by the information that is given away that the ham radio community is  a very helpful bunch that is interested in getting more people involved. This is the virtual backbone of Disaster communications and any serious preparations should include a Technician license.
