Grateful for heat and staying warm

Grateful for Heat

This is a post that was scheduled for last week, but certain people evidently did not schedule it correctly. Perhaps I was already dreaming of Thanksgiving dinner. There are many things that we have to deal with in life, but we are grateful for heat. There are not many more things that will make you miserable than being cold.

Fireplace Burning as alternative heatSomething that can make you shiver uncontrollably and if cold long enough will shut your body down is something you don’t want to mess with. We are grateful for heat that keeps our house warm and provides us a refuge from the cold. We also are grateful for cold weather gear that makes trips outside more bearable.

Can you only imagine what it was like for the first settlers in a new land. They not only had to build a new house and society, but they often had to do it while trying to heat the house to stay warm. Construction has come a long way from those drafty buildings of long ago. Even thought the log homes were solidly built some people did not chink correctly and cold air drifted in.

While we watch the cold air drift around the country remember to be grateful for heat and the comforts it brings loved ones.
