Baked Sausage Parmesan Penne

We are going to form the basics of the sauce and cook the pasta and then put it in the oven to meld together and allow the taste to flow.
Ingredients
  • 16 oz. package dry penne pasta
  • ½ pound Smoked Sausage
  • ½ onion chopped
  • 3-4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup White Merlot
  • 32 oz. Tomato Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Italian Herbs
  • 1½ cup Mozzarella Cheese
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Heat a pot of water to boiling and then cook the pasta to Al Dente (6-8 minutes).Drain
  3. In a saucepan add butter and cook over medium heat
  4. Add the chopped onions and sauté for 5 minutes
  5. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 2 minutes
  6. Add the white merlot to deglaze the pan and simmer for 1 minute
  7. Add the tomato sauce and sausage
  8. Add the herbs
  9. Simmer for 5 minutes or until reduced
  10. In a greased casserole dish add ½ the pasta
  11. Add half the meat sauce mixture
  12. Add half the Mozzarella Cheese
  13. Add remaining pasta
  14. Add remaining Mozzarella Cheese
  15. Top with remaining Mozzarella Cheese and Parmesan cheese
  16. Bake Covered for 30 minutes. Remove cover after 20 minutes to brown cheese

Can substitute Pasta, Cheese, or Meat as needed
