3 strike Firesteel when the cold sets in

3 strike Firesteel

If you are cold and hungry and need some warmth I hope you packed your firesteel or matches. The problem with matches is they can get wet. Not so with the firesteel. Have you stopped lately to consider exactly how vital a fire can be?

Firesteel_fireBesides the obvious answer that it will keep you alive and not suffer hypothermia there are many other benefits to fire. It almost instantly makes you feel warmer. It can provide warmth and security. If you are lost the smoke and light might draw attention to your location. One of the other benefits that I enjoy is the mesmerizing effects that can captivate my attention for hours.

If you enjoy a fire like I know many of you do one of the worst things is to not be able to start one. Once upon a time a long time ago I routinely used flint and steel to make fire. That was usually when the matches got wet from a gear failure. I was staring at one of those fires and thought about a product a friend had recommended called firesteel.

firesteelNow firesteel is a variation of the flint and steel that has been used for thousands of years. It is able to be used even when wet. Despite the problems that the good folks over at GunPrepardness.com have had with Firesteel.com I placed an order on a Friday evening. My order was shipped out on the next day and I got it on Monday. It was well packaged and the contents were fantastic.

I was amazed at how good the product was. It is a testament to Made In the USA products. I will say Ron has a great product. In no time I was able to use it to start a fire. It took me 3 strikes to have a flame and I think the first two were my fault. I tried it even when wet and it did not seem to have any effect.

When you need a fire I hope you have a firesteel packed. I went ahead and got the ones with Lanyard holes so I could attach some paracord to make it even more useful. This is one product I have no reservations about buying. It has become part of my EDC (everyday carry).

The only closing thought is that I wish the fine folks at GunPrepardness.com and Firesteel.com could come to some sore of resolution. I am pretty sure it would not take much for both parties to consider it resolved.
